OUR STORY
The Well began
with a question.
Where are the builders who are building generational wealth, and changing the world?
And what do they need?
THE FOUNDER
Tawanna A. Black
FOUNDER · MEET ME AT THE WELL · LIVING TRUTH ENTERPRISES
Tawanna A. Black believes that the most impactful leaders are not built through achievement alone—they are formed through reflection, community, courage, and alignment with purpose.
For more than 25 years, Tawanna has helped leaders, organizations, and communities navigate complexity, steward influence, and create lasting change. As founder and CEO of Living Truth Enterprises and founder of The Well, she creates transformative spaces where women can pause, grow, heal, connect, and lead from a place of greater wholeness.
Throughout her career, Tawanna has launched and scaled organizations, advised executives and boards, convened cross-sector leaders, and designed strategies that strengthen both people and systems. She is the founding CEO of the Center for Economic Inclusion—the first organization in the nation dedicated exclusively to building inclusive regional economies—and served as a Non-Resident Senior Fellow with the Brookings Institution.
Her work has influenced corporate, philanthropic, nonprofit, government, and faith communities across the country. She has guided leadership retreats, learning journeys, and communities of practice for thousands of leaders seeking to build stronger organizations and more equitable outcomes.
Tawanna’s leadership has been recognized through numerous honors, including Twin Cities Business Person of the Year, Living Cities’ Top 25 Disruptive Leaders Closing Racial Opportunity Gaps, and Women President’s Organization’s Women of Color Achievement Award.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Tawanna serves as a pastor at Grace Apostolic Church in Minnesota, where she teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ, mentors, leads real estate operations and pastoral care, and helps individuals deepen their faith and purpose. Her unique ability to integrate leadership, strategy, faith, wellbeing, and community is at the heart of The Well.
Tawanna has keen passion for community service and excellence in governance. She has served on over 40 boards of directors and today she lends her expertise and time to the Minnesota Council of Churches Board of Directors (President), the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) Board, and Washburn University Alumni Foundation Board.
Whether facilitating a retreat, speaking from a stage, teaching in a church, or gathering women around a table, Tawanna’s mission remains the same: helping people lead, live, and thrive from a place of truth, purpose, and abundance.
"While the world teaches you how to build a business, we are building the builder who builds — and the ecosystem that allows their building to multiply."
OUR MISSION
To build builders who build from identity, walk in their assignment, create generational wealth, and multiply their impact.
Not builders who are successful by market measures alone — but builders whose work produces lasting fruit. In their organizations, their communities, their families, and the generations that follow them.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Kingdom economics.
Four convictions.
-
STEWARDSHIP
BIBLICAL WEALTH WAS NEVER INDIVIDUAL
It was communal. The strongest builders build networks of trust, systems of accountability, and cultures of generosity. Wealth held alone is a liability. Wealth held in community is a multiplier.
-
MULTIPLICATION
FROM SURVIVAL TO MULTIPLICATION
"Our inheritance is not only money. It is the wisdom, systems, discipline, and mindset required to build wealth again and again." The Well equips builders to pass all four to the next generation.
-
ECOSYSTEMS
ALIGNED SYSTEMS PRODUCE OUTCOMES
"We do not need more disconnected programs — we need aligned systems that produce outcomes." The Well is designed as an ecosystem, not a program.
-
LEGACY
DEPTH BEFORE SCALE
The Well is not designed to reach the most builders. It is designed to reach the right builders and go so deep with them that their transformation becomes a transmission.
THE ECOSYSTEM
This is not merely a leadership program. This is a Kingdom-informed economic empowerment ecosystem.
"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow... A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
"Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 — The biblical design for the circle
COMMUNITY BUILDING
Trusted relationships at scale
Intentional collaboration. Healthy communities. Belonging without performance. The well was always a gathering place — that is still the point.
FAITH FORMATION
Scripture-anchored leadership
Ephesians 2:10 as the theological frame for every decision, every strategy, and every act of building. Faith is not the feature — it is the foundation.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Wealth creation with Kingdom intent
Business ownership as a pathway to economic stability, job creation, and generational wealth. Stewardship frameworks that move leaders from survival to multiplication.
LEGACY
Generational impact by design
From individual success to community flourishing. From one leader to many circle leaders. From one city to a movement. This is what we are building toward.
